Sejarah

Bringing Storage Efficiency to a New Level with Oracle's Unified Storage

Sponsored by: Oracle Corporation The rapid growth of new digital data demands new storage architectures that offer more flexibility and radically different storage economics. IDC estimates that the total amount of digital information created, captured, and replicated will be 50 times greater by the year 2020. With application storage requirements growing at this tremendous rate, storage costs are skyrocketing. At the same time, a challenging global economy has kept IT budgets flat or declining. IT managers are thus caught in a bind. They are trying to meet the growing needs for increased storage capacity and performance while also containing costs. This white paper explores integrating innovative storage software with flash technology and an open architecture solution. Read now to learn more.

The 5 risks you should always consider when protecting data

We've all seen ads from insurance companies promising protection from an assortment of oddball circumstances for "just pennies a day." You can't beat the insurance industry for knowing the real odds and pricing its products accordingly. On the other hand, you don't buy insurance because it's cheap; you buy it to protect yourself against a given set of risks. If the right risks aren't addressed, then price is irrelevant. Like other IT functions today, data protection has become much more specialised. This is the direct result of an expanded awareness of the variety of risks, increased levels of user expectations and the growing range of technology options available to address specific problems. As a result, the way we approach risk and risk-related services also needs to evolve. We need to think about the likelihood and impact of various risks and the kinds of “coverage" we need. Thankfully, this E-Guide from SearchDataBackup.com does exactly that. C

EMC VNX Virtual Provisioning

One of the biggest challenges facing storage administrators is balancing how much space will be required by the various applications in their data centers. Typically, administrators are forced to allocate space based on projected storage growth. But this often results in the overprovisioning of storage capacity, which then leads to higher costs; increased power, cooling, and floor space requirements; and lower capacity utilization rates. Even with careful planning, it may be necessary to provision additional storage in the future. This may require downtime depending on the operating systems involved.
